Consumer credit has been much in the news, with a great deal of concern over the credit scoring industry. The impact of our credit scores is huge and pervasive. A credit score can affect the ability to secure a job or purchase a home. A recent study even concluded that the premiums charged for auto insurance depend on more credit scoring than on a person's driving record. Unfortunately, in an effort to improve their credit, some consumers are lured in debt settlement scams that only leave them worse off than before. John Rossman discusses these issues and more.
