Beyond the Office
My life outside of the office is spent with family, traveling, and on a bicycle. The practice of law demands the highest levels of energy and passion – qualities reflected in my “off duty” hours.
MINNESOTA LAW, Presented by Moss & Barnett, and WCCO Radio
From May 2008 through October 2012, I spent Saturdays hosting Moss & Barnett’s legal information and news program on WCCO Radio, Minnesota Law, combined with numerous interviews and commentaries on breaking stories during “drive time” on The Morning News with Dave Lee.

I have been blessed with a lovely wife, Nan, for the past 34 years. We have two sons, each now in graduate school (one is seeking an MBA at Harvard Business School and the other is studying law at Georgetown University). When we are able to coordinate vacations, we love to travel as a family.

Outdoor Adventure Travel
Ranging from all points in the United States to Central America, Europe, and Asia, family trips are frequent occasions for exploring the outdoors.

Sometimes, my sons inspire me to get out of my comfort zone!

One of the best trips ever was “Down Under” with my youngest son, during his “gap year” between college and law school. We got to hang out with kangaroos, sea lions, and seals on Kangaroo Island.

Road Bike Action
Since 2006, my active passion has been ultra-long-distance road bike riding. I currently feature a pair of carbon fiber cycles – a BH Ultralight and the Cervelo R5. They make a typical weekend ride of 100 miles fly past! Once a season, I try my luck (and pluck) in a road bike race in Grand View, Michigan – the Firehouse 50.
